I had a birthday this week!
Often I have a shindig for my special day with home made cake, food and decorations. However, this year I had a quiet dinner at a seafood restaurant where I indulged in some top notch sushi!
It was delicious! Flavourful, artistic little morsels moist where they should be and crispy where they should be. There was edamame as an appetizer and the meal was paired with a nice dry white wine, my favourite!
While I boast to be queen of thriftiness,by no means was this dinner excursion cheap but sometimes you can indulge and enjoy and birthdays count as one of those times.
Here we have : “Spicy Tuna Roll” and “Red Dragon”;Shrimp tempura with tuna on top.(I’m told traditionally red dragon has tuna in the middle rather than shrimp but this was a welcomed alternative)
These two are “Philly Roll” which contained cream cheese, avocado with smoked salmon on top and a “Lobster Roll”
This last plate contained “Rainbow roll” which is a California Roll with salmon and tuna on top and a “Tuna with Tempura Nori“; spicy tuna with the nori on the outside and the entire roll fried in tempura batter.
I was so eager, I began to eat before I took a picture as evidenced by the missing pieces from the plate.
It was a great birthday dinner. Add that to the giant slice of red velvet cake I had earlier and it was a perfect birthday! That’s the edamame in the lower left corner.
Here’s to many more birthdays, have an awesome day!
